Tauktae Cyclone: Cyclone Taute wreaks havoc in Gujarat and Maharashtra, catastrophic

The severe cyclonic storm Taute (Tauktae Cyclone) hit the coast of Gujarat (Gujarat) around 8pm on Monday. It hit the coast between Diu and Una in Saurashtra. The process then ended at 12 midnight. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), no deaths have been reported so far. Two lakh people were already evacuated by the state government in the storm.

The wind was moving at a speed of 185 kilometers per hour when the storm hit. The IMD said winds of 133 kmph gusting to 133 kmph blew in the Union Territory of Diu during the time when cyclone hit Gujarat around 9.30 pm. A tweet from IMD said that the storm Taute has now turned into a very severe cyclonic storm. Earlier it was cyclone of serious category.

In Maharashtra, Diu and Gujarat, people have also recorded videos and photos on their cameras during the cyclonic storm, which has surfaced on social media.

More than 12,000 civilians were shifted from coastal areas to safer places in view of heavy rains continuing in Mumbai. These include 8,380 people from Raigad district, 3,896 from Ratnagiri and 144 from Sindhudurg district.
