Tauktae Cyclone: CycloneTauktae has also caused extensive damage to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium
Cyclone Tauktae arising from the Arabian Sea wreaked havoc in Goa, Gujarat as well as Maharashtra. 700 electric poles collapsed in Goa and damage to 200-300 transformers has been recorded.
Many heavy trees collapsed in Gujarat. About 2 lakh people were evacuated from Gujarat. In Maharashtra, six people have lost their lives due to the storm in Konkan.
The storm has also caused a lot of damage to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. A stand and site screen of the stadium collapsed completely due to the storm.
In the last 24 hours, the central and north-eastern regions of India have also witnessed heavy clouds.Maharashtra recorded heavy rain. Heavy rain is expected at many places along the coast of northern Maharashtra.
